Bubble Dummies

Bubble Dummies is a co-op sandbox-style puzzle game designed around creative problem solving and player cooperation. Trapped inside an industrial facility, both players must work together to creatively solve physics based puzzles and timed events to escape before they're popped for good.

I worked as Director, Technical Artist, and Programmer. Additional credits are listed below. All animation is procedural, driven by code which was inspired by Puppeteer, by MaddHattPatt. Elements like squash and stretch, the arm movement, wobble, and blinking, are all driven through the players state machine. Physics is entirely custom, built for artist authoring and control rather than physical accuracy. Jump feel is controllable with curves, allowing for a much easier tuning process. Metrics are setup in a way that allows designers to easily change a value and have it make sense. If your jump height is 4 meters, you're going to comfortably jump up 4 meters. If you jump a distance of 10 meters, you know you're going to jump 10 meters. This allows for a much more intuitive tuning process, and allows designers to easily understand the impact of their changes without needing to fully understand the underlying physics.

The project is still under development, but my work on it has been focused on prototyping the core movement and feel of the game, as well as the underlying systems that will allow for easy content creation and iteration, meaning that most of my work is complete. All that's left is to create art, levels, and new mechanics, which the team I'm managing will handle.
